I've been watching The Dean on Facebook for about 2 years and been waiting for the right time to go. I booked the afternoon tea with Carol singers as an early Birthday/Christmas treat for my parents. My Dad asked to leave his sandwiches plain as he's not keen on condiments so I emailed the restaurant q few days before and also asked for prosecco to be on the table from the Grandchildren for Mum's birthday. A day before the booking I hadn't had a reply so rang them instead. The manager was very helpful and assured me the prosecco would be dealt with and my dad could order the sandwiches from the waiter/waitress. Very disappointed to get there with no prosecco on the table and my dad to be told the sandwiches are made up to order so they all had the condiments on. The chef very kindly made him some cheese and ham croquets instead and to be fair, the food was lovely, the young lad that served us was really nice and couldn't have been more helpful. The place itself was gorgeous and well worth the visit. The choir were fantastic, as was the pianist so I would still recommend it and I would go back again but the problem with the sandwiches did take the shine off for me, especially as it was a Birthday/Christmas treat.

I've been here many many times now and each and every time the food, drinks, cocktails (which are to die for) and service has been faultless. Everyone is so warm and welcoming from the moment you step over the threshold. The decor is beautiful and quirky and compliments the food and atmosphere beautifully. I love resident giraffe and especially love the fact that I no longer need to travel to Liverpool or Manchester for a special meal or an afternoon with my friends for a bottomless Prosecco lunch...maybe a bit too much! I can't wait for my next visit on mother's day

Wild horses would get me back there. The interior is nice and the lounge singer was good, that's the positives out of the way. It was Christmas eve so I expected the place to be fairly full as apparently it was booked up for a month. But on entering we were shown to a table in the corner away from everything even though the place was a quarter full, a good spot to watch the drunken people walk past on the poorly lit high street. When ordering a drink the waiter looked shocked I asked for a coke (full fat). He brought a diet so I assume he thought I was a bit overweight, 2.50 for the smallest bottle possible. I ordered the special 'blackened steak' and my wife and son opted for fillet. After 10 minutes we was told the fillet was unavailable, so we ordered 3 'blacken steaks '. We received 3 sirloin steaks instead which was undercooked.
