Ex-army commando reviews Maltings Eyecare, St. Albans. Very good in all areas: attitude of staff, covid precautions, product knowledge & facilities. Very welcoming & competent optometrist. Delighted with stylish Nike prescription sunglasses. Thoroughly recommended

I chose this local independent business for my new pair of glasses and I am extremely happy with my choice. All the staff were very professional, helpful, but also kind and friendly. they answered to my several questions, cleared my doubts and patiently helped me to find the best option. My lenses are quite particular, but they did such a good job that I felt comfortable with them from day 1. I absolutely recommend this shop to anyone looking for amazing service and quality.

I wouldnt really recommend this optician for children unfortunately. The quality and designs for the glasses are not great. My daughter got her new glasses and where they had fitted her lenses it was chipped on the frame. Once she got her new glasses the receptionist made her try them on. With someone that has never worn glasses I thought that was odd. Once home within the month the glasses had chipped on the frame so that meant they were cheaply made. Also they were not sitting on her face properly. Unfortunately as I was not comfortable at the opticians I did not bother going back and complaining and just went to a different optician and getting her a new pair which fit her great and no chips on the frame. Staff are friendly and great customer service. I think they are great for adult glasses but would not recommend them for children glasses. Update response: Although frames are free on the NHS for children you still need to pay 50 for the actual lenses. Where the lenses were fitted it was all chipped inside the rim of the glasses when we first received the glasses. Yes childrens glasses do get damaged as they are constantly on the move but I did not expect the glass frame to start having further chips within the week she got them. So the pair unfortunately she got were poorly made. Yes I am sure it was the receptionist that made her try the glasses when we received them with her prescription lenses as when we first used the store she filled out all our paperwork and was going back and forth to other members of staff asking questions about filling out our forms. So on that part I am definitely not mistaken. Unfortunately I did not feel comfortable from the start to finish hence the reason why I did not return back to the store and chose to go elsewhere.
