FHT recently converted a single brick garage into a liveable space with an en-suite for my Nan. Initially I was excited to work with FHT due to getting on with Gary but as time went on it was clear theyd agreed to a job they couldnt complete to a satisfactory standard. I was told the conversion would take around 3 weeks but we ended on it taking around 7, yet the job wasnt finished. I was under the impression FHT would be onsite everyday until the job was complete but this was not the case. It also didnt help I wasnt informed on when theyd be coming back in general - very poor communication. The plasterer didnt turn up which cost us a day (all time we didnt really have with an elderly and frail family member needing to use this liveable space asap) the en-suite was installed onto a soak away which resulted in us having to use someone else to resolve the issue as I knew FHT wouldnt of given me a time to resolve the issue. This cost is 1500 and 3 more days. We didnt know when the electrician was coming to do the 2nd fix and after weeks of waiting they couldnt finish the job. My husband had to buy screws to fix the remaining fascia onto the wall. The en-suite door wasnt trimmed so when we installed the carpet the door wouldnt open/shut. I appreciate this type of business doesnt work over Xmas but I was left for nearly a week with no reply. Again, my husband had to buy a circular saw to trim the door. The stud was built around the gas and electric box yet no doors were ever created for these spaces. They are currently covered with mdf and some insulation boarding stuck to the back which are pushed into the gaps. Not carpentry work at all. Again, Ill have to have someone else come to resolve this issue (which will cost me even more money) as both the holes let in all the cold air. I would not recommend FHT to anyone I know, especially for a garage conversion.

Cant recommend Gary highly enough, hes done a few jobs for me such as garden fencing, driveway gate and laminate flooring. He also did decking for a family member. His work is competitively priced and is of an exemplary professional quality and his attention to fine details is excellent to ensure a high standard of finish to his clients requirements. On a personal note Gary, as well as professional, is friendly, polite, hard working and all round nice person. Having had the few jobs carried out by Gary and having seen his portfolio of other tasks he has undertaken and successfully completed I would have no hesitation in recommending him.

If only I could give no stars at all. Back in June, I booked to have Gary fit anew kitchen in September. This was later than I had wanted, but Gary said it would suit him better. At the end of August i confirmed that kitchen was coming on the expected date, to which I got the response that Gary had been let down by his electrician and could I get it sorted, then he'll do the rest. That he hadn't bothered to get his tradesmen lined up for a date he has known about for MONTHS was infuriating to say the least. That he then went straight to asking for me to fix his mess, rather than him trying to find straight away, was downright insulting. He could have added, "if you know someone available, and can pass me their details, that would be helpful" but customer service does not appear to be a strong point for Gary. I sent him the details of two electricians as I said he needs to agree (new) dates with them that will fit with his other trades. His response was to question exactly what work was needed. I sent him a complete list (if he couldn't remember the electrical work I was concerned he'd have forgotten everything else) and then heard nothing. Couple of days later I chased to check and got the response that he didn't realise it was so much work and he needed to raise his price by a little more than 50%!!!!!!!!! This put him much higher than my alternative quote had been and into the same sort of price bracket as Wickes (who guarantee the workmanship for their higher price). Funnily enough I can't comment on the actual quality of Gary's work as he didn't bother to arrange for the work to be done and I now wouldn't let him near it, even if he offered to do it for free. So thank you Gary: for having me live with a partially removed kitchen for a couple of months longer than I had wanted, the hassle of having to find a new, reliable fitter and a house full of kitchen (which I really hope is OK as I only had 10 days from delivery to report any problems and it was meant to have been fully fitted within those days if you had done your job).
