Curl Talk

I love this salon, it is the only salon I trust and Ive been about 4 times over the last 2 years. The stylists always seem genuinely pleased to see you (which is a stark contrast from walking into other salons with big, curly hair). So much care is taken into which products are used for your hair specifically, rather than just a one size fits all approach. Each stylist is happy to answer any questions you have and keen to ensure you are happy with your cut and styling so it is best to be vocal about what you are after exactly as they really do want to meet your expectations. You can see a lot of pride is taken in the work. I went on a Saturday, its now Thursday and ready for a wash but its held so well whilst still being light and bouncy that Im reluctant to do so!

Ive had my hair cut and styled at CurlTalk twice now, firstly by Melina and second by Molly. Both were absolutely fantastic, they told me which were the best products for my curl and hair type and how to use them and how to diffuse my hair properly. The salon is beautifully designed and Im always made to feel so welcome. I have always worried about how different salons would cut my hair as they hadnt had much experience with curly hair, I feel I can relax and enjoy my cuts here as they know exactly what they are doing. I get my hair cut here every 6 months, as recommended by themselves so although it is expensive, compared to how often I was getting cut before (every 6 weeks) it works out about the same and worth every penny would love to see them start to do colour treatments, been dreaming about changing or adding some colour for years now but because of the curls I never have, but wouldnt give a second thought to coming here! I went for a Curl talk cut and loved the whole experience! The whole tram was friendly and professional. Melina was amazing at giving my hair the layers/ shaping it so much needed. She also explained products and styling techniques which I found really helpful! Definitely the best ive had so far in terms of price and quality.

I had Cynthia cut and style my hair yesterday, and when I tell you that my curls have literally NEVER looked as good as they did after my appointment, Im not lying. Cynthia was so kind, she listened to exactly what I wanted in terms of the cut and was so patient with all of my questions about curl care. She explained what she was doing every step of the way and even gave me a mirror to hold so that I could see what she was doing. At the end of the appointment she talked me through everything again and showed me all of the products she used so I could take photos and order them myself. She explained that transforming curls isnt an overnight process but told me what to expect if I used the products she recommended (specifically a protein mask) over the next few months, and told me exactly when to come in for my next cut and treatment. Again, I cant stress enough how kind and knowledgeable Cynthia was, I highly recommend her! Salon wise, the vibe at Curl Talk is so fun and positive. When I was in there I could tell it was a team who really enjoy working with each other and get along well, and it felt like such an empowering place to be as a client. I had high hopes for this place. Its been a few months now and I still regret not expressing my disappointment before I left. I went for the ultimate curl talk experience and I was quite happy with the treatment. But the cut and styling Im still confused about what happened. I should have said that drying my hair with my head down wasnt a good idea. But I trusted the cut would be thorough, at least. Instead it was very quick, and not much care was given into giving my hair a nice shape. The next day I washed my hair and realised a lot of the ends hadnt been touched. I assume the ends are always cut, if only a couple of millimetres. Again I should have been more assertive. So I suppose it is partly my fault. Still, I want to give this salon another go, but this time with a different stylist. Service: Curly hair
