Have been coming to this site for years and can't recommend it enough. The layed back nature of the place really helps you wind down on a short break.

Really nice family run campsite, we've been coming for years. Always enjoy it, there's a great cafe around the corner and fishing lakes for the boys. Good clean facilities and toilets. Highly recommend.

Have just spent a three day break at Maythorne. What a lovely clean and quiet flat site with plenty of space, with hardstandings and grass pitches and has a small adequate amenities block. A torch is required on an evening when its dark as the site is unlit, perfect for stargazing and a good nights sleep. Some nice local walks and easy access via the old rail tracks into Southwell and beyond. The lake is great for fishermen, and there is cafe adjacent which is very handy but note it is only open from midweek to the weekend. We will come stay here again, we found it so relaxing.

Nice positioned site close by the village via a trail. Facilities pretty sparce and shocking to be honest with pitches for over 100 persons there's one shower working out of two only. Very badly designed too unless you're a child. Shower way to low down toilet in corner and sink placed right up to the toilet when there's plenty of space along the wall for it , toilet roll dispenser placed behind you so awkward to use, the clothes hook is placed above the hand dryer and shelf. And as most site not adequate shelving ie for clean clothes etc and seating poor. The light is on a sensor which switches off after too short a time and you have to walk wet into middle of the room to activate again. There doesn't appear to be any recycling bins. The Elsen point is very poor and badly situated again on the main track into the site stopping new customers from driving in if someone is using the waste point. Pity because the location is ok nice and quiet but terrible design and facilities. The position of the shower block should ideally be in the centre of the site for easy access for all the site. But if you have ALL your own facilities in your van its ok i suppose.
