Beautiful setting, we had a private room for a table of 10. Food was largely very good, maybe just short of excellent - the competition in the Cotswolds is massive though. Great pints and service was also good. Lovely atmosphere in the front of the pub which is very traditional, and also a garden at the back for when it's warmer. Had the beef cheek, which was very good although preferred the look of the burger and the fish and chips which was a huge portion!

This used to be a firm favourite a few years ago, so I was looking forward to seeing it up and running again after a long period of being closed. Sadly it was disappointing. As with all the pubs in this area, you go expecting to pay close to 20 for a main course. But when you order a vegetarian pasta that arrives as a tiny portion, made with shop bought spaghetti and very few ingredients, it doesn't feel justified in the slightest.

Whilst the ambiance was very pleasant, the Gin and Tonic I had, has to have been the most disgusting I've ever had. The Gin I noticed came out of a flowery bottle and the tonic - suposedly normal tonic - was of a name I've never heard of - TW marked on it. The drink was garnished with something which looked vaguely like s slice of orange. None of this would have mattered had it tasted like a G&T. I was expecting a familiar Gin such as Gordon's or whatever and a familiar tonic such as Fever Tree or at worst Schweppes! I feel conned and let down. I will not return of my own volition but unfortunately I'm sure I will be invited by others but I shall be much more careful about ordering something which sounds familiar. I wonder how they would destroy a Martini!
