Apart from 1 nurse (Ray) and 1 care assistant (Cheryl), this is the worst run and uncaring establishment I have ever visited. If I could have awarded 0 stars I would have done. The whole atmosphere is oppressive, and the inside of the home is dark and dingy. They dealt with my mum's dementia noises by putting her to bed for hours during the day, where my mum got extremely upset. The bedrooms are in dark corridors well away from the daily activity. This was their first option in treating my mum, despite the fact they have a superb sensory room...which is kept locked! Even one of the nurses wasn't aware of its existence. Before my mum moved in, we made the staff fully aware of mum's noises. We were told that they would pose no problem. When I requested a meeting with the manager, I also requested a copy of the care plan. Only the front cover had been completed, and even some of this information was incorrect! I immediately emailed a copy of this to social services. During this meeting with the head nurse and the manager - who came across as arrogant and smarmy - we were told that that was how they were going to handle mum. No further discussion. I was even asked how I would like to sit next to someone like my mum! I could have easily replied that every time I visited, abuse was constantly hurled at me by another resident. Also during the meeting I was given a copy of the care plan, which now contained some information (although far from complete). This was dated as if it had been prepared within a couple of days of mum's admission. The manager was not aware that I already had the earlier copy, and just grinned when I pointed out that the backdated one must have only been completed in the previous 3 days. His smile faded when I told him that social services were already in receipt of the earlier copy. The manager and head nurse repeatedly changed their stories over various points, and contradicted themselves. Not only when speaking to me, but to the LA too. I made a complaint to the CQC, and to the Local Authority, who visited and advised them of changes which needed to be made. The home assured the LA that the changes would be made, and that they were able to care for my mum. Less than a week later we received notice to remove my mum within 9 days. These 9 days covered a weekend and a bank holiday. The minimum required notice is 28 days, so they had to revise that decision following further input from social services. The reason they gave me in writing was completely different to the reason they gave verbally to the LA. Neither of these reasons were valid. Our complaint was fully upheld, and the report even stated that the home was institutionalised. We were more than happy to get my mum out at the earliest opportunity, and she is now in a lovely, friendly, home, where she is very well cared for. It also costs a great deal less than Tudor Bank.
