Mum is a funny, bright, upbeat intelligent woman, however, her dementia is now getting the better of her and we felt she needed a bit more stimulation and social interaction than my sisters and I could offer on a regular basis. So we were delighted to find the Oasis, and mum has been going now for around six months, once per week - but we are hoping to increase that this year to two days. There are usually about 10-12 day visitors/guests, and on offer are a mixture of entertainments, such as chair exercises, quizzes - designed to challenge brain function, visiting therapy dogs, singers etc. there is a two course lunch too, and endless cups of tea and biscuits, with non-alcoholic wine and nibbles in the afternoon. What is most appreciated, is that the tv doesn't go on, instead visitors are encouraged to talk with each other and interact, a very important stimulation especially when mum still lives alone and has limited visitors. The staff are brilliant, kind, patient, and funny, and I cannot praise them enough, I know how exhausting it is when caring for someone with dementia, so hats off to the staff who manage to keep their stamina levels up. I can't rate this review higher than 5 stars, but golden stars they are, and much deserved.
