My three children all went to this school. It is a one form entry with pupils from Reception to Year 6. The school year is small and genuinely friendly. The current Head, Mr Meehan, was a classroom teacher when my children attended. He is a quietly spoken man who listens to parents and works hard to cultivate Our Lady of Lourdes as a school with a strong Catholic ethos, emphasising respect for oneself, one's fellow pupils and the environment. Entry depends on verification from the parish priest that at least one parent is a practising Catholic. Given the limited intake of the school, entry to non-Catholics is heavily constrained. As far as the stats go, the school has always been high in the league tables but, given its position as a one form per year school, there are often statistical blips; the positive or negative performance of one or two pupils in Key Stage 2 SATS can have a disproportionate effect on the final numbers. It has been some time since my own children were there so I am afraid I don't know about any recent OFSTED reports. They are, of course, easily found on the OFSTED website. The only thing which affected the performance of the school, the satisfaction of parents and the happiness of children has , very largely, been attributable to previous heads, not the incumbent. The school has close links with Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church behind it and benefits from all the help and support of parishioners, whether or not they currently have children at the school. All in all, despite blips along the way, the school has maintained a high level of sustained educational success no matter the usual turnover of staff. For parents who want a Catholic education for their children, live locally and are searching for a school which prioritises helping young children start their journey towards mature and caring adulthood, this could be the school for you.
