Hipster guy with the long beard at reception was unfriendly and unwelcoming, didn't smile or welcome us, in fact didn't even make eye contact. Seemed throughly disinterested, bordering on abrasive. If this is the first impression your customers are getting of your establishment, you're in trouble, because it's a very negative one!
Table service was fine, although 50min after we sat down we only had a round of drinks and some lettuce on our table. Don't believe this was down to the waitress.
All six adults received their main courses before our 4-year-old daughter got hers (a simple bowl of pasta), causing her to become upset.
Starters: 10.95 for three scallops barely the size of a 50p coin, give me a break!
Main: I'd been craving a steak, but for nearly 30, I can honestly knock up something tastier on my bbq at home than what I got, and when it arrived it was barely lukewarm, never mind hot. Maybe got 6 or 7 thick cut chips if I was lucky. Others had exactly the same complaints.
Coming in at 220 for six adults and a child, with only one starter, two mini deserts and two alcoholic drinks in total between us, for me this was massively over-priced and a huge, huge disappointment. Felt like we'd been mugged.
I'm afraid that's it for me and my partner, we'll never go back to Miller & Carter Leigh-On-Sea. Overrated, over priced and seriously underwhelming, which is a pity, because it's a really nice venue.
