I visited this pharmacy as its my local, being close to home. Upon picking up a prescription, I was told by one of the staff that I was exempt and didnt have to pay for my prescription. I asked them to double check, as I have always payed for my prescription. She was sure, and addament I was tax exempt. I then received a letter from the post informing me that I have been fined because I didnt pay for the prescription, despite her telling me that I was exempt. I then went to speak to the manager, informing him of the letter I recieved. To be told that he always tells his staff not to tell customers that they are exempt. I recieved not appologies. But instead was told that hed email them, because if I didnt pay it, he would then have to. We then recieved a letter again, this time reiterating that he tells his staff not to say this and took no responsibility. Now we have to pay a 112 fine for a prescription that wasnt paid for because one member of staff was adament that she was right and very persistent.

Our family have been loyal customers to the Elms Pharmacy for about 14 years. Recently, my step dad went sick, having needed some medication. Upon arrival, one of the pharmacists had told him that he was entitled to tax credit exemption. He replied that he wasn't, and that we pay for the prescription everytime. However, she continued to say that he was exempt (after checking) and didn't need to pay. A letter was then sent to us through the post stating that we are now faced with a fine for not paying the prescription. Upon speaking to the manager, he didn't apologise and has told us he has informed his staff to not tell customers that they are exempt. However, on this occasion, she did and was adamant. The manager took no responsibility and even upon writing an email about the fine, he just reiterated what he told his staff not to do. She was persistant that she was right and as a result of this, my parents are faced with a 112 fee. He (the manager) was more upset that if we didn't pay the fine, he (the manager) would have to. Even though it was his staff's fault. No loyalty. Just worried about his own hands in his pocket.
