absolutely disgusting service by the "owner" of this hotel, i didn't even make it threw the doors!! i booked a holiday for me and some friends in september upon booking the lady asked for a card guarantee, which is normal procedure for a guest house! after this booking was made 2 weeks later the "owner" decided to take full payment off my card! without any warning!! this left me with bank charges and late direct debit charges!!! after calling the hotel the lady promised me faithfully that she would refund this straight away, this taking over a week i've had to report this to my bank and send her yet another email, she half heartedly apologised and again assured me the money would go in..........i'm still waiting!!!

I booked rooms with Bideford House a week in advance for my family and a friend's family for an overnight stay the following week-end. I called to check some details two days before we were meant to stay, only to be informed that my booking had effectively been cancelled as "it had caused a lot of problems" and the person I had been speaking to had "spent a lot of time on it". Given the late notice of the cancellation and the fact that there was a festival on the night we wanted to go, there were no other comparable facilities to stay (e.g. B&B's, hotels, guest houses, caravans, camp sites etc.). The person I spoke to was rude and refused to accommodate my pleas to reconsider. As a result, we were forced to cancel our short break away, which cost us time, money, disappointment and considerable aggravation. My kids were heartbroken that we were unable to stay overnight by the seaside and I was extremely disappointed with Bideford House. I would NOT recommend this guest house under any circumstances.
