A very friendly, welcoming place to view art by local artists. I was surprised to learn that the gallery has been there for a couple of years. I honestly hadn't noticed it. The new owners must be doing something right to get the place noticed, as I've recently had a couple of people contact me to tell me about this lively "new" gallery lighting up the bottom of Hamlet Court Road, with their busy opening nights and evening workshops.

A real hidden gem, well worth a visit especially since the revamp!

Carra who co-runs the WOA is a fantastic host and a really passionate books and art enthusiast who makes it her aim to support local talent. I know this as she also volunteered to help me run a book event at a different venue! The gallery is under new ownership, so don't be put off by the negative reviews on here - pop in and you will discover a lovely little space with a vast variety of work and crafts on display. It is venues like this that make an area buzz!

I exhibited at work of art last year.....the owner Rob Masters convinced me that my work would appear on the WOA website and be marketed locally and that I would recoup the costs I had to pay up front to exhibit with him. I regret ever agreeing to this. The WOA website is closed. No advertising or promotion of my work was done locally at all let alone in the press etc. I wasted my money. My artwork is everything to me and as a struggling artist I would not recommend you waste what money you have at Work of Art.....I understand from my girlfriend who knows the owner Rob well that the shop is closing or going broke.....I am not surprised. A very unhappy artist.

As a young lady eager to support local artists, which I understand is what this shop states that it does, I popped into the shop last year to look around. I have no problem with the artwork or jewellery much of which was very nice but my whole experience was ruined by the person working there who said he was the owner who spent the whole time making what I suppose he thought were flirtatious or funny comments in a vain attempt to get me attracted to him. Its not that I have anything against short men in their forties (i.r.o I guess) but his behaviour was not welcome not funny and ruined my view of the shop.I went to lodge a complaint on the W.O.A website but see its closed down - perhaps they havnt paid their bill! I havnt shopped there since and wont be going back.
