Small station close to Wessex Lane Halls and a 15-minute walk from the University of Southampton. It is very quiet, never crowded and saves you time and effort when visiting places around the University of Southampton area. Trains form London Victoria call at Swaythling. It is an excellent place to welcome loved ones arriving to visit you in Southampton if you prefer peace and quiet.

When I was a student only the slow trains from London to Southampton stopped at Swaythling. But it was a relatively short walk from the station to Montefiore. So I actually found it quicker, easier and cheaper to catch the slow train, get out at Swaythling and walk to Hall than to get the fast train to Southampton and the bus back. Perhaps this is still the case?
