When I collected the glasses, they checked to see if they were ok and although they were just ok, my old glasses were better. I took them to work the next day and very quickly realised that I couldn't wear them for more than 5 minutes as they weren't correct.
I phoned to say I needed this sorting out and they said that they could get me in for 3pm. I left work early and rushed to the shop, to find the optician had gone home and no one could help me! I expressed my annoyance and re-booked as they forever tell you they are fully booked and can try and fit you in, but I never see anyone in there. I could not say they apologised, more 'It shouldn't have happened' attitude.
Next visit, I obviously had the owner who did another eye test for me at lightening speed and said that they. now had the correct readings. My first eye test was apparently carried out by a someone less experienced, hence the extraordinary long time it took. She was obviously aware that I wasn't very happy at this stage, but nothing was said.
My husband's glasses were ready for collection and I asked if mine were also ready so we could save yet more journeys and get then together. Apparently not. At 11pm that night, I get a message saying my glasses were ready for collection. I phoned to ask if I could go with my husband that day and get mine to be told that because I had 'issues' I would need to see the dispensing optician the next week when she was in. Great, another visit to somewhere I didn't want to go to.
The minute I walked in, the atmosphere suggested that I was not someone they really wanted to deal with and with sharp efficiency, I was handed my glasses. I asked about the 50% discount for a second pair which is valid for 3 months. Due to all their mistakes I hadn't received a useable pair of glasses for a month. She just said it was from the first date of the order and she couldn't change the code - but at least I still had 2 months to make my mind up. Perhaps at this point an apology or even a small gift voucher for the huge waste of time and endless visits? The visits comprising of either over the top excruciating 'following procedures' dialogue of what they are doing, to cool efficiency bordering on rudeness. I don't enjoy either by the way.
I finally get home, to discover the glasses falling off my nose and that they need adjusting! I decided to go back and give then one last chance to make my 400 (plus what ever my husband stumped up) worth all the inconvenience and annoyance with them by actually admitting they had messed me around and just apologise.
No, almost without a word she took the glasses tightened them, asked if they were ok and then just sat there hoping I would just go... which I did.
I hate to say it, but....'I should have gone to Spec Savers'!!
Sort out your customer service Ashleigh opticians, as you have just lost 2 customers and anyone else I can moan to about you.
