Halloween, a Christian tradition. Dress-up festivities had been repeated in numerous forms throughout the centuries, and although the origin of Halloween cannot be placed, one may argue the very motion of Halloween could be closely tied towards biblical plays, acted out by Christians during the Age of Chivalry. In these performances, Christians would often dress as Devils and The street itself was often used to represent hell (Readers Digest [Life in the Age of Chivalry],1995,pp120). 10th-15th Century Christian festivals such as All Souls Day may also have led to our current tradition of trick and treat. In a very similar circumstance to modern times, children during this period went door to door singing and begging for (Readers Digest [Life in the Age of Chivalry],1995,pp120) treats. Unfortunately, modern Christian belief associates this cheerful tradition as The Devils Day without a shred of biblical evidence or reasoning. The lapse of the October festival All Souls Day and the renewal of Halloween ironically flips the tradition of going door to door for treats purely towards that of the non-believer, as modern Christians refuse to associate themselves to either act.
