Only recently converted from being a b n b to an air BnB. It is a very generous size with a 7 bed capacity and generous sized sofas in the lounge to relax on so you're not obliged to stay in your room for entertainment. However each room has a small TV screen if you want alone time. The host left a Scrabble set in full view which got the thumbs up from my crew. If you get grubby sightseeing, particularly sandy or sea weed smelly there are three shower rooms, one at ground floor level and two on the first level. The upper rooms have small sinks. It's surprisingly quiet even though it sits on the main road leading to Little Haven Bay and there are cheek by jowl takeaways just across the road. Be warned though all the supermarkets and local shops close early at 6. The convenience store on Ocean Road isn't a stock up place, absolutely no fresh fruit n veg. The other thing to watch is the steep step up towards the front door. My daughter had some difficulty levering the laden pushchair up it. I doubt that it's wheelchair friendly. There are some small repair issues in any conversion of use but the owner is very willing to listen to any suggestions about improving the safety of the property and upgrading one or two kitchen items. This guest house isn't the first one lve been to that has no wooden utensils or a microwave that's much lower powered than mine. Not everyone wants to cook and not everyone requires fancy crockery to eat their breakfast off. It was very pleasant though to sit at the large glass table watching morning TV while crunching my cereal. This place is very good value for money and if you have a car it's an excellent base to site see the north east from. South Shields boasts blue flag beaches, a cute Marine park with a boating lake and a ride on mini steam train. See my other reviews for best places to hang out.
