During the pandemic Johnsons handlers funerals very poorly compared to other funeral directors and as you only have one funeral, I cannot forgive them, despite the fact my father didnt pass away from covid and didnt have covid they said they wouldnt embalm him (other funeral directors were embalming at this time it wasnt a law or a rule/restriction at the time, it was a choice) We were also told we could only have ONE visit during his 2 weeks at the chapel of rest as they would only open the coffin once, they made us sign a disclaimer to say that we accept the body would be basically in a very bad way due to not being embalmed and that they wouldnt dress him because they wouldnt touch him etc, we were told quite clearly that seeing the body would be very unpleasant to see etc they basically tried to talk us out of seeing him and the whole family said they didnt want to see him (imaging how bad he may look etc) except me and my husband, we went and he looked NO different to someone who had been embalmed! They also HAD dressed him (laid his shift and tie over him but tucked it all in etc) and he looked so beautiful and peaceful there was NO right or reason for this company to behave the way they did during such a difficult time. They stole the time me and my family could and would of had with my dad during his time in their chapel of rest and I will never ever forgive them for this.

I would like to say the service I received from John and all his work colleagues was impeccable from the care of my mam from the start to the end they really did look after everything, kept me updated with everything and on the day of the funeral it all went along perfectly I would recommend them to anyone at this sad and difficult time they were someone I could rely on

From our initial meeting our contact John, helped and advised us through the whole process with advert in the Gazette, wreaths and flowers and arranged for Graeme who would conduct a Celebrant Service to come to our house to gather information about my brothers life. On the day of the funeral everything went smoothly and John and Graeme were very attentive, we cannot thank them enough.

Organised and carried out mother's funeral with great care and kindness. First class service from start to finish and even after care. Can't praise them highly enough.

I cannot express how grateful we were for the prompt arrival of the out of hours team who came in the early hours of a Sunday morning after our mom passed away at home. The were smartly dressed and very professional but caring towards us and our mom on the start of her final journey. This was followed up by phone calls from the courteous staff at R S Johnson & Sons the local funeral directors and part of Dignity Funerals. They assured us our mom had arrived safely into their care and asked if we had any particular requests which meant we were able to ask for her hair to be brushed and styled as normal. Mom was to have an unattended funeral but they kept us informed as to the date this would take place and helped us let others know what her choice was as well as arranging for a link to Dementia Uk for people to donate to instead of flowers by setting up a memorial page on the Dignity Website that we could send out to all family and friends. There were several follow up calls to simply ask how we were coping and if they could help in any way even after they advised us our moms ashes were ready for pick up. This is not the first time that they had looked after loved ones for our family and each time was made as stressless as possible by their professional caring attitude and we would highly recommend them to anyone seeking for funeral directors to care for their loved ones on their final journey. We would just like to thank them once again for guiding us through this very sad and difficult time in such a kind and courteous manner.
