Lacked technical understanding of the principles behind our invention and drafted an application which was of poor quality. When I had asked James Peel to amend sections of our patent application to improve upon the description, James advised that he will need to make extra charges despite the fact that James had already advised the costings and the number of inclusive drafts permitted at the beginning. This only came about because the fundamental problem was that James had underestimated the amount of time that it would take him to draft our application based on the information that we supplied him but yet he somehow he managed to provide us a quote without actually looking through the information first through no fault of mine and has nothing to do with us. Rather unprofessionally he then started referring to and made unnecessary and unhelpful comments on how the UK IPO and EPO will charge us over 1000 based on the number of pages in our invention notes and James asked us to condense the information to reduce the number of the pages. A little too late at that stage and every attorney knows that it is always the job of the patent attorney to sift through the clients information and pick out what is relevant to write a patent application based on their understanding of the invention and knowledge. That is what you are paid to do and not provide a quotation, start work and then look through the information and moan about the about of time it took you to read the information and draft an application and talk about unnecessary extra charges (because you made a fundamental oversight). My learning lesson with this attorney was that I would liked to have requested 3 to 6 written references and contact details at the beginning before committing to working with this attorney and I would liked to have checked and verified each reference with each referee by contacting each of them before making such decisions. I know its too late now but thats my learning lession. 3500 wasted on this attorney on work that was of poor standard. I do not recommend this attorney.

James has just submitted a patent application for me which I am very pleased with as he has managed to properly understand and express clearly the invention. I had previously used a large city outfit that cost a lot of money and the application had to be withdrawn as the claims were to wide and unfocused. So, am pleased to have been recommended James's services and have the process back on track.

James made an effort to see me on Sunday to understand how my invention works. The communication was clear and easy to understand. Highly recommended.

James and his team provided me with a very thorough and carefully thought out action plan for my invention bringing it from a physical object to paper with a very informative process pathway ready for the IPO. Their attention to detail is unmatched and their responsiveness is very quick. They also have many contacts and much experience in dealing with everything I needed for my project. I would thoroughly recommend them at any stage in your product development and patent ideas. If only everyone in every industry worked this way the world would be a better place.
