I had my garden paved 3 years ago. I wasn't exactly delighted with the job, though it looked ok. I had questioned the pointing mixed as it looked ridiculously sandy, but I was told it was fine. 3 years later it's getting ripped up as 90% of the tiles are loose and the pointing is 50% missing with the remainder crumbling away. I'd asked for the tiles to be laid on a solid bed of concrete, however, they clearly were not!. No wonder the tiles sounded hollow when walked upon.... As can be seen in the photos the tiles were supported only around the edges and the so called 'pointing' are the yellow lines of sand. Avoid at all costs.
