A mixed bag of experiences. After my first treatment I recieved a bill for payment of excess despite not being required to pay excess under my company insurance policy (easily sorted). So on my current treatment, when I recieved a phone call, 3 days before appointment, asking for my bank card details to cover any excess or shortfall between cost and insurance, I was naturally suspicious and annoyed. I was told this was a new policy so I asked for the policy to be emailed to me so I could show it to the company and Aviva, this was either not sent/recieved. As I did not provide my bank details, on the spot, to a random person phoning me I was then told my appointment was not going ahead. These are ENT appointments that I have waited almost 2 months for due to staff errors in booking, despite chaser calls. In the end (AFTER 6 WEEKS) I had to phone and book an MRI myself, and was told that they still did not have the required paperwork. Unacceptable! Previous issues, long queues at reception. 30 minutes wait. Missed my bloods appointment by 5 minutes. Receptionist went to speak with someone who was within earshot of me and I heard them being rude to the receptionist. When that person then came and spoke to me she said the nurse had gone home and that they came out and called for me "over and over". I can assure you that never happened as I was standing in the very slow moving queue in the silent foyer for the last 25 minutes. I was seething by this point. Luckily another nurse took my blood, however she was visibly not happy about it and made it clear. Talk about rubbing salt in a wound. Having been treated by 3 other private hospitals, including Spire Murrayfield, I can say that the customer experience is lacking at Spire Parkway. After a long queue at reception it would be great to sit down with a nice drink in a socially spaced waiting area however this is often full and cramped and I have had to stand to allow frail patients to sit. This could be due to overloading with appointments. The entire operation feels strained. All of the above is not an acceptable standard of private medical care. That aside, the staff are undertaking difficult work and doing a lot of good. Unfortunately for private medical care, excellent is the benchmark and my experiences have been woefully substandard.

Genuinely blown away by the service my mother received following a hysterectomy at this hospital. Doctor Khaja and all the nurses treated her with so much care, compassion and dignity and for that I will forever be indebted. Thank you!

This is written on behalf of my partner Tom. I was really impressed with the care received by the x-ray department and specifically Tracey & Julie today. They were able to fit me in for a scan at short notice and made the whole process a pleasant and efficient one. I wanted to mention them and thank them for their help.
