Barchester - Fountains Care Home

Came to the open day and was so Impressed by the facilities and the pleasant, lovely staff.

This is an outstanding home. I spoke for some time with the manager when I came to visit and it was refreshing to see that she is someone that started off as a care assistant and worked up to now manage a care home. You can clearly see the difference in the standard of care she has and expects her staff to uphold, as opposed to someone without that experience that may have profit centred goals. You can see that there is a calm atmosphere and that the residents are happy, the same goes for the staff too. All round, a great home!

I visited the home a couple of weeks ago and what can I say.it was beautiful! The staff were attentive and answered all questions, I really felt at ease during my visit. The home itself has a number of facilities on offer, and I was given an extensive tour. Great staff, excellent home!

Fountains is on the surface a beautiful home, fabulous decor, impressive activities and delicious menu's. After meeting the management team and explaining our Mother needed 100% assistance due to her having Alzheimer's , we agreed to her staying for respite. If you would like a honest transparent review please feel free to contact me. The Ombudsman found in our favour and after investigating, concluded that Fountains had failed our Mother in several parts of The Health and Social Care Act 2008. Dementia Care at Fountains was lacking on many levels. It's distressing to think residents who don't have a voice are there and not being looked after to the standard they so deserve. It still saddens our family that such poor care is happening in these homes and they somehow manage to continue to thrive. Shame on Barchester Homes........ UPDATE...I would like to reiterate that we have followed the complaints procedure and The Ombudsman found in our favour. Fountains failed to care for our Mother in several areas. This review is to inform the public of the failings of this home and make people aware that although this home on the surface is very impressive the lack of care is actually quite terrifying and disgraceful.
