We have visited Manor House Farm on many occasions, and always had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. This was our first visit post-lockdown and we were left very disappointed. Whereas we have always arrived to find the driveway gates open and the outside light on to welcome us, we arrived to find the property shut up and in total darkness. Not the end of the world, by any means but upon stepping inside we found the house was presented in a very dirty and neglected state, the carpets and window ledges covered in dead flies. The upstairs heating was very poor - though there was one plug-in electric heater to compensate. And the ensuite toilet did not flush. I'd hope that this was just a one-off, as the property has previously always been a pleasure to stay at. It is however a premium holiday property and should be presented in such a way.

We, a family of three and two dogs, have just returned from a weekend break at Manor House Farm Cottage and I really can't sing it's praises enough. The cottage itself is beautiful, sympathetically updated to provide facilities which those who rent it will be accustomed to, while retaining the charm and quirkiness of the original building. It was spotless on arrival and all cleaning products, hand wash etc were provided. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our self-catered meals. Now lets talk about the views. From the front you can see, not only across the dale, but for miles and miles and I could have sat in the window seat or garden looking at it all day long. From the courtyard and small lawn at the back of the property, you are greeting by fields and fields of sheep and a forest backdrop. The village of Troutsdale itself is idyllic. It's very rural and you wouldn't need to speak to another person if you didn't want to, but we found the local residents to be very friendly and helpful. It's only a short drive away from many of the North Yorkshire attractions but when you're at the cottage it feels like you're in a world of your own. Peace and tranquility at it's very best. Despite wanting to keep this amazing treasure of a find to myself, I cannot recommend the properties at Manor House Farm enough, and you should absolutely experience this breathtaking place.
