La Piazzetta

Wonderful food at very reasonable prices. The Porchetta was the best dish I've eaten in a restaurant for some time. My wife had the Steak Tagliata which was also delicious, not the biggest steak but the menu said 6oz so can't really complain. Only let-down was the wait, we asked for bread and olives to start, took almost half an hour to arrive by which time our mains were ready, so we ended up having the starter as dessert. Apparently a mixup over who was cutting the bread? Otherwise though, first rate, and will probably go back when we visit Shrewsbury again.

Calamari and ragu were nice, though the ragu came out a bit cold. Vegetarian options were quite disappointing. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options weren't great - I found the mushroom risotto watery and bland, and not creamy as expected. Not worth the price.

Popped in on Sunday evening for coffee there were nine of us and we were welcomed even though we were not eating a meal. The service was great and before we were seated they made sure the table was cleaned down. The atmosphere was cosy and the table with high stools was ideal for just coffee. We all enjoyed the drink along with an amaretto biscuit. It looked like a lovely place to visit for a meal and I would definitely visit again.

Kid-friendliness: Clean Highchair, super welcoming staff, great kids menu, colouring in, lolly for afters. Great family friendly venue. Offered a window seat and big fuss made of the little ones.
