    Shropshire War Memorial, Shrewsbury. A Grade 2* listed monument, the Shropshire War Memorial stands in the Quarry Park, Shrewsbury. It depicts St. Michael dressed in gothic armour and carrying a pennanted lance It was designed by George Hubbard and was unveiled on 29th July 1922. Following World War II an inscription was added to the frieze of the memorial in 1949 The central figure was the work of sculptor Allan Gairdner Wyon. The memorial, which cost 4,400 raised by public subscription, includes an unusual set of mosaic floors depicting military, religious and civic symbols.
