I called the oxford branch and had a thorough conversation with George from the sales team, i advised him that i had found a car online but as inflation is the way it is and i'm 70 miles away i wanted to discuss it with someone and seek reassurance that the car was in fact in good condition and it wouldn't be a waste of time or money making the journey to see the car. After being reassured that it was in good condition but may have a couple of stone chips here and there I agreed to put a deposit down to reserve the car. I had originally planned to come and see the car on saturday (28th jan) with a view to take it that day, i was advised that you don't exchange on a saturday so i spoke with my employer and arranged to have the day off on monday (23rd jan) to come and view the car with the intention of driving it home that day. My partner and I made the hour and a half journey to the branch and were greeted well, offered coffee and exchanged small talk. The car we were there to look at (OV69FXA) had just been driven out from the rear compound so we hadn't actually seen it in person at this point. Within seconds, less than a minute of seeing the car in person my heart sunk, the car was a mess and not at all in the condition that i was assured it was in. Our first impressions were that just generally it was dirty and as i walked around the car i noticed a lot of damage to the paint on both sides, a loose fog light and scuffed plastics, at this point i stopped looking. To say i was disappointed is an understatement, 140 miles in total we travelled. We put our trust in a company that appeared to be professional, i'd arranged time off, cleared funds, prearranged insurance so everything would run smoothly as my partner and i had agreed that as long as the condition was good we would be buying the car. We put our trust in this company to deliver a product/service but all that has happened is i've lost a days holiday, 60 in fuel and what is supposed to be an exciting day turned completely upside down. Clearly i wont be returning to Unity in the future. EDIT: after being contacted by a most apologetic Tim and being reasured that this is not what he expects from his team I feel our experience may have been a one off. He was very kind with offers of help and potential solutions putting me in touch with the right people in the right places. Tim was even kind enough to reimburse us for our travel expenses and a little bit more by way of apology. If everyone at Unity were to deal with customers the way we have been dealt with by Tim then this would have been a 6 star review.
