I found the opticians at Matthews to be very good but I had contact lenses which I paid on direct debit and I had so many problems with the lady that does the accounts. When I first got my lenses, I paid 3 months in advance in cash. After a long time, I had acquired too many lenses. I asked to not have my next 3 months delivery and cancel my direct debit for 3 months. When I started again after 3 months, she told me I had to pay 3 months in advance again. After querying this, she said I hadn't paid the 3 months in advance orginally. This could not be true as they would not have given me the lenses had I not paid. I eventually gave in and paid again. When I changed prescriptions a couple of times I was told to return the unopened boxes for a refund. After not receiving the refund on both occasions she eventually said I would not be getting a refund as I owed them money. This could not be the case as they controlled the amount they take on direct debit and I would not get the lenses if I did owe them. The last straw was when I changed prescription again and she was supposed to put up my direct debit. She hadn't done this even though I had let them know. She then rang me to say she was going to put up my direct debit for one month to cover the difference of the last 3 months and it would go back to normal. The following month it had not been changed back. I rang to tell them and the following month it happened again. After 4 months of the amount going through too high and I had rang them 16 times. Not once did she ring me back. I had spoken to the opticians 3 times, who assured me she would deal with it and she still didn't ring me back. Eventually I stopped the direct debit and she had the cheek to tell me she had made an error and I owed them money, which was not true. I'm not sure if she is just incompetent. It is a shame as the opticians were good but this woman is impossible. I left with them still owing me money and no apology for how I had been treated. If you are having contact lenses, I would suggest you do not use this opticians. .

I just cannot fault this Opticians, they are amazing. The staff are so helpful, particularly Reception who have answered my enquiries in the most informative and friendly manner. My new glasses are the best I have ever owned and that was due to the team listening to my requirements and delivering an amazing service . Thank you so much !

If you are having contact lenses, I would suggest you do not use this opticians.
