The original medieval church was described as 'a small ancient building dedicated to St Peter consisting of a nave an chancel of stone with a wooden turret'. Sadly the medieval church became ruinous and was not used after June 1800 as it was declared unsafe. The second was short lived due to instability and deterioration by 1886 hence it was demolished. The present church, built in 1888, is hence the third church dedicated to Saint Peter to be built on the site. The upper part of the font was discovered buried in the ruins and is in use today. Some memorials were also discovered are mounted on the walls of the tower The church is not normally open to visitors.
