A really excellent place to base yourself when visiting Dartmoor. We stayed in the Stables which has been renovated to a very high standard and is beautifully decorated. It was also spotlessly clean. The gardens are a real bonus for visitors a beautiful and peaceful place to sit or take a stroll. For anyone interested in walking or hiking there is a really cool ancient woodland bordering the property and the walking trails on the moors are not far away. The owners are great for advice on local places of interest to visit.

We stayed in "The Stables" self catering in March and loved it. The apartment is really well set up and the beds are super comfortable, recently renovated it still manages to keep the charm of the property. The setting is so beautiful and the gardens are a really relaxing space. Wifi is good, excellent pub lunches via a short walk through the idyllic forest boarding the property. Sheep are very friendly. Perfect for a restorative weekend!

An absolute gem of a place. Very comfortable and such tastefully furnished cottages. So much to see around the area. So many evocative historical connections to the house as well, this former home of Sir James Brooke will be of real interest to literary fans of Joseph Conrad, William Somerset Maugham and Emilio Salgari.
