Suzy Blake Cake Atelier

Sue recently made my wedding cake and it was perfection. I don't even know how she does the sugar work but it was everything I had hoped. It was 3 tier - we had vanilla, chocolate and coffee/walnut and it was so fresh and exactly what I had hoped. I almost want to have a second wedding so we can order another cake.

We were absolutely delighted with our wedding cake. Not only did it look incredible (guests were amazed by the sugar flowers, we had to actually to try a little bit of leaf to believe it!) but perhaps most importantly the taste was incredible. The whole process was easy from start to finish, we enjoyed meeting Suzy and tasting the options for filling, all of which had a carefully balanced flavour that was fresh rather than sickly sweet.

Our wedding cake was outstanding! It was everything we dreamed of and more, all of our guests commented on how beautiful and delicious the cake was! Suzy has been amazing from start to finish, keeping in touch on a regular and making the wedding process stress free. I cannot recommend Suzy enough- thank you for making our day so special. The cake tasted nice. However the process and communication was very frustrating to the point I just gave up in the end. She made me feel uncomfortable, as if I was being pushy, which I was absolutely not, When asking questions. I would just received a new invoice (containing no answers) to sign and return. When I tried to discuss the final plan, with regards to what design and flavours I would like, Suzy replied using statements like you will have and I honestly found her rude and dismissive. I wanted to actually enjoy the process but it wasnt possible. The cake itself looks very basic. My guests said it looked like a fake cake you have for show. It was completely unfinished on the top- There was a small hole in centre of the icing which was strange and the gold leaf was not across the top. As if something was missing? I did send pictures of my flowers (for colour and type) and a cake inspiration from her own sight. To combine the style of the three tear inspiration cake with the two tall tears I was wanting, and colour and variety of flower for my day. The gold leaf was probably covering around a third of the overall inspiration cake, through 3 tiers. So I expected a similar ratio of gold leaf and white icing between the two tall layers of my cake, but instead there was maybe an inch of gold leaf around the very tip of the two edges of my 16inch cake. It looked very unbalanced and budget. I said I would like flowers like the photo of her cake, but the style and colour of my bouquet, and was told you will have one main flower. Etc. and wouldnt discuss. Every response was a statement, she asked no questions. I honestly just dont understand why? Her cakes look amazing through her instagram and we also had 160 macarons and paid over 1200. The most disappointing outcome. I regret choosing her. I understand what work goes into creating special wedding cakes and I was happy to pay what that costs. But honestly i found it unprofessional and did not get what I wanted at all. Because I was left feeling taken back by responses and I just didnt know how to reply politely to such abrupt closed statements.
