Gareth and Michelle have been fantastic from our first contact all the way through to planning. We met with a number of architects and instantly clicked with Gareth. Gareth is unbelievably efficient and responsive to every contact, which makes the whole process less stressful as you know any questions you have will be answered very quickly. He has been flexible from the start, meeting us on weekends at site or on Zoom. He clearly knows his stuff and how to navigate the planning system. Other architects we met suggested going straight in with a Class Q application. Gareth took a different approach and suggested we go through the pre app advice process and apply for full planning for our barn conversion. Going down this route took longer but was key in receiving full planning permission without the restraints of Class Q. Involving the planners in discussion before applying was absolutely the best way to go in Torridge and resulted in our application being approved upon first application. Gareth was extremely patient with us as first-time self-builders, we had very clear ideas about what we wanted and not once felt patronised. He was open and honest about what would work and what wouldnt, which helped bring the design to life and meet all out needs and wants. We would recommend to any of our friends and family and look forward to working with him and Carl during the building regulations process.

From the first meeting to getting us through the planning process Gareth has been amazing. He was recommended to us by a friend & has never disappointed. He came and visited us on a Sunday to fit around our busy family lives, he always sent through drawings, amendments and quotes really quickly & responded to any queries we had within 24 hours. He listened to us and came up with a design that was perfect in functionality and design. Going through the planning application process was stressful to say the least with neighbours objecting, the parish council objecting and it subsequently going to planning committee to make the decision despite our Case Officer at the Council approving it. Gareth dealt with the application on our behalf and his knowledge and experience took the pressure off us going through a process we had no experience of. Gareth held our hand the whole way and was a constant source of reassurance. Now we have approval we go onto the next stage with Gareth and his team and feel confident hell deliver.

GW Architects were commissioned to extend and redesign our existing house - we wanted to remain in the same location, but needed our house to be revamped and modernised. Gareth was recommended to us by a mutual friend, for his design skills, and he has certainly fulfilled our brief. Our dated house has been completely transformed, both inside and out, into a contemporary exciting home, which we are proud of and love being in. Gareth and his colleagues have provided an excellent service; they are professional, knowledgeable and approachable and always reacted to any issues promptly. We would have no hesitation in recommending GW Architects to others wishing to develop their home.
