My husband was admitted here following a long spell in hospital where his dementia had escalated and following a hip fracture needed a hoist to transfer from bed to chair etc In hospital he had stopped eating unless I actually spoon fed him The staff at Peele are amazing everyone of them Malcolm now feeds himself enjoys his food It is all made on the premises to a very high standard He sits at a table with other patients eats and chats away His eyes were previously blank and now they shine with happiness He loves living there and this makes it so much better for me to visit On arrival I am always treated with respect and offered a hot drink. But the biggest change has been that they talk to me about Malcolm They really know him and his lovely sense of humour has returned Within a week he was on his feet Transferring from chair to chair and walking with 2 people to help He has gained self confidence and frequently tells me how happy he is to have arrived in this place The staff are always ready with a hug if anybody is upset A cup of tea a piece of home made cake One day I watched a carer dunking biscuits in a cup of tea for a resident who cannot take solid food The time it took and the look of joy on his face brought me to tears Such tenderness and kindness is beyond any job description Yesterday I visited with his Grandson We sat with Malcolm while he had dinner in his own room We laughed and joked for an hour The Grandson remarked how wonderful the staff were with Malcolm and also That was my Grandad is back with us !! I can never express my thanks to The Peele for rescuing us all from the bleak situation we were in If your relative is sent to The Peele Rejoice it is the best place possible Diana Marks

The place is appalling, there's no communication or feedback on parents well being, staff don't communicate to each other. The telephone system is useless, 90% of the time it goes to answer machine, so booking an appointment to see your mum/dad is near impossible especially at weekends. My mum when we do manage to get in is usually dressed in some other persons clothes
