I live in France but I make sure every time I need to see an Optician I book an appointment with Day Lewis at Riverhead on my return to the UK. Their customer service is second to none. Great care and attention is made in examining my eyes and all questions answered in a way that makes sense to me. When I ordered new glasses, again all questions answered and when I ask for advice on what suited me, the answers were direct and I could understand their reasoning. Always good to get an independent opinion. I was delighted that two new pairs of glasses with prescription lens's were available within a week. Even better, they are so friendly - service with a smile.

Uncaring, abrupt and hasty, are the words that spring to mind following my wife's visit to Day Lewis for her periodic diabetic retinopathy eye test. Sadly, despite the other good reviews, this has been her experience on two occasions. There will not be a third. At one point the optician even pulled her mask down, rather than bothering to ask her to do so. This is not the way to treat an elderly lady. Speed seemed to be his only concern. In the days when this test was administered by the Paula Carr Trust, it took about half an hour, allowing ample time for the eyedrops to dilate the pupils. With this man, my wife was in and out in ten minutes. Who knows whether the results of the test will actually mean anything?
