I went with my Mum on a trip here last year and This hotel is in the perfect location! The beach is only a matter of 2 or 3 minute walk away, and for people who arrive on train, the train station is a less than 5 minute walk away! The rooms have nice views of the beach with nice bay windows and some furniture. The beds are comfy and the showers work perfectly! The staff are also very nice here and Friendly! Unfortunately most of the darts for the dart boards had been damaged so I couldn't show my amazing talent at dartboards but the rest of the restaurant area was nice! The breakfast food was nice (especially with the orange juice) and I would recommend anyone coming here to have a few nights stay but be ware of the scary animal head on the wall which was a bit creepy near midnight! There is also a coop a few minute walk down the road and also a burgur/pizza place called Pizza 40 and the food there was very nice! Overall a 5/5 hotel and stay!

Lovely room with 2 radiators. Unfortunately neither were working so first night was a very cold night sleeping with a fleece on. Was given a heater for the second night, so overall quite disappointing. Rooms: Large room with sea view and comfortable bed - shame there was no heating working in the room

It is a lovely hotel with friendly staff and the food is excellent. I would strongly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the West Cumbria coast and/or visiting Sellafield. Update Saturday 25th June 2022: I am staying at the Calder House Hotel in Seascale on Saturday 25th June and so far my stay at the Calder House Hotel in Seascale has been a most enjoyable experience. I have walked around Seascale, Drigg and the Sellafield Nuclear Plant today and arrived at the Calder House Hotel in Seascale after my walk. I am booked into room 9 at the Calder House Hotel. Check in was quick and efficient. Karen who is one of the staff at Calder House Hotel checked me in. My room is excellent. It is a double room with en-suite facilities. The Hotel has ample car parking spaces which are free. I have parked my white BMW Mini One at the front of the Hotel. However you can also park at the rear of the hotel if you wish. The hotel has free wifi, a restaurant and bar. I am going to be eating and drinking in the bar and restaurant at the Calder House Hotel in Seascale on the evening of Saturday 25th June from 8pm. Tomorrow Sunday 26th June 2022 I am attending Mass at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Seascale. I would recommend a visit to the Calder House Hotel in Seascale. Update Sunday 11th September 2022: I stayed at The Calder House Hotel in Seascale on Saturday 10th September 2022 and it was a most enjoyable experience. I stayed there after my walk north on the Cumbrian Coastal Path up to Sellafield railway station and the Sellafield Nuclear Plant and back to Seascale. I always do this walk first when I go to Seascale to get my 10,000 steps in for the day. I would recommend this walk. If it is warm and sunny there are lovely views of the Irish Sea with the sun beating down onto the sea. It is very relaxing. I then walked down the road from Seascale to Drigg. Again on a warm and sunny day like Sat 10th Sept there are lovely views of West Cumbria and it's hills I always try to get down to the beach at Drigg. However more often than not I don't make it to the beach at Drigg due to time constraints. I then walked back to the Calder House Hotel in Seascale. It is an excellent place to stay. The rooms are very nice. I had a double room with en-suite facilities and it was excellent. I then had a meal in the hotel restaurant and that was of top quality. The staff at the Calder House Hotel Karen, the owner Elaine and her son Adam are excellent. Very easy to approach and nothing is too much trouble. Calder House Hotel in Seascale is very convenient for St Joseph's Catholic Church in Seascale where I attended Mass at 9am. I am doing the same walks on Saturday 17th September and Saturday 15th October 2022; staying at the Calder House Hotel in Seascale on Saturday 17th September and 15th October 2022; and attending Mass at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Seascale on Sunday 18th September 2022 and Sunday 16th October 2022 at 9am. I would recommend a visit to Calder House Hotel in Seascale. Update Sunday 18th December 2022: I stayed at The Calder House Hotel in Seascale on Saturday 17th December 2022 and it was a most enjoyable experience. The Calder House Hotel in Seascale has ample car parking spaces at the front of the hotel and at the rear of the hotel. There is free wifi throughout the hotel. The hotel has a bar and a restaurant. The food is excellent. I stayed in room number 5 which is a room with a sea view and has en-suite facilities. The room was excellent. The staff at the Calder House Hotel in Seascale are friendly and helpful. Elaine the owner and Karen who works in the restaurant and bar are great hosts. The locals are a friendly bunch as well. Look out for the security team at the Calder House Hotel in Seascale which are the two French bulldogs that Elaine owns called Betty (head of security) and Copper (security assistant to Betty). I would recommend a visit to The Calder House Hotel in Seascale. Update Sunday 19th March 2023: I stayed at The Calder House Hotel in Seascale on Saturday 18th March 2023 and it was most enjoyable.

We had such an amazing stay at the Calder House Hotel! The staff were so friendly, welcoming and were always happy to help. The bar had a variety of drinks at good prices, along with a pool and snooker table. Our room (room 1) was a good size, with a nice bathroom and very comfy bed and pillows. The food at the hotel is fantastic the poached eggs for breakfast were the best I've ever had! The evening meals were delicious with lots of great flavours and clearly home cooked, make sure you get a pork belly starter. The hotel is in a great location and is only a 20 minute drive from the Scafell Pike. We took our little jack russell with us (that was pre arranged with the hotel owner before arrival) she was also made to feel welcome. We will definitely be returning in the warmer months to explore the area some more and make the most of the sandy beach that is at the end of the hotel garden with direct access under a little bridge.
