I stayed at Calderthwaite for 7 months and cannot say a single bad thing about it, it is a fantastic option if staying in West Cumbria. Rooms were spacious, with en suite (which was a must-have for me), quiet, always very clean and contain everything you could possibly want (in room coffee machine, smart TV, very fast internet etc.). Mary (the owner) is a lovely friendly lady who made we feel very welcome, and it quickly became my home-away-from-home. She stocks the fridge with fresh milk, the pantry with cereals and tinned goods and also provides fresh eggs and bread. There is a fully functioning kitchen with all the utensils you could need to cook yourself a meal. Seascale itself is a very quiet village, yet has everything you could need day-to-day. There is a co-op or McColls shops about 5 minutes walk from Calderthwaite (major supermarkets are a short drive away). There is a gym located just further up than the co-op (10 mins walk). If you fancy a beer there is a nice bar next door but one at the Calder house hotel, where they also serve up good food. There is even an ice cream parlour down near the beach! All in all I can't recommend Calderthwaite highly enough. Many thanks to Mary for having me and I intend to stay here again should I ever need to stay in the area again!
