I would like to say a huge Thank You to the Firemen in Seaham Fire Station who looked after me on Tuesday 7th. April. My wedding ring finger was very swollen and my engagement ring had embedded itself deeply into my finger do no matter what my husband and I tried at home to try and remove it nothing worked. We tried everything on Monday night and again on Tuesday morning to try and remove it. By this time I was not feeling very good. The more we tried different things the more purple my finger got. John even tried cutting it off.... but the pain in my finger got so bad we had to stop. We were beginning to panic, so John suggested we phone the Seaham Fire Station. I was reluctant because we were self isolating. I am 76 this year and we were keeping safe indoors. However I realised I had no other option so I phoned the Seaham Fire Station and after giving the details I was invited to the Fire Station. It is only a short drive from us. When we got there the Firemen who greeted us were kitted out in protective gear. That was great to see. I was greeted warmly and invited in. At the door before I entered I was given hand sanitizer. That felt good too. I felt safe. The firemen were professional, kind, caring and confident. I knew I was in good hands. Immediately one of the firemen began the task of cutting off my ring. It took a while but I was calmed by the quiet confidence of the Fireman removing the ring. He worked calmly and confidently until the ring was off. What a huge relief. I am deeply grateful to him and the other two officers who were there too. They were superb. They can be so proud of the wonderful job they do in the community, day and night. No job is too small for them and they showed me great care and consideration. Thank you all once more. I will never forget your goodness to me and your expertise.
