Rooms: Newly refurbished rooms are very smart. Room 6 is a large corner room with lots of personal touches (Nespresso machine & capsules, minibar) and a luxury bathroom with rain shower to die for. Huge comfy bed. Food & drinks: Top class restaurant menu and the team clearly delivered on their promises. Friendly service made us feel very much at home. Fab breakfast

Rooms: We had a corner room and it combined the best of modern conveniences with a sense of history. Check out the photos of local places of interest. The photographer is local and you can order copies to grace your walls. Food & drinks: See above and pray that Mark is on duty when you're dining!

Rather disappointed with our most recent meal here - Easter Sunday lunch. Starters were fine, but my Lamb and her Beef were cut far too thick and had little flavour. Veggies were okay, but small pot of Cauliflower Cheese was cold. Desserts were not good; my Bakewell tart was over-baked and the flavour drowned by raspberry sorbet, and her Eton Mess contained very little fruit. This was our first visit since Gary, the chef, left. Whoever was in his place today did them no favours.
