Probably the worst bank I have ever had the misfortune to have to deal with, the staff are completely incompetent. They lie through their teeth expecting you to do whatever they tell you to do, then change their mind as it fits them.

I have found the staff at HSBC Bank High Street, Saxmundham to be totally unhelpful. Bearing in mind, this is the only Bank in the town of Saxmundham. The cash machine is useless and has a fault which means you lose your card. This has happened to me twice in the last six months. I went into the Bank today and this is still happening to other customers. Who were standing around trying to recover their cards, unhappily complaining. I went in to this bank to change up 2 worth of 2p's and was told this service was only available to customers that Bank with HSBC. How unhelpful is that? It is not as if I make a habit of this and have only attempted to do this once in 10 years and the staff know who take advantage of this service. When I pointed this out I was told I must use my own Bank which involves a 15 minute drive to the nearest Barclays (a 10 mile round trip) to achieve changing my money. HOW UNREASONABLE OF A BANK AND HOW UNHELPFUL! Steer clear of it - Bank somewhere else and certainly do not use the cash machine. If the staff feel this is a reasonable thing to tell people in the town to do, quite honestly they deserve no one to use this Bank and for it to be closed down. We will all go to Barclays at least they are more friendly and accommodating and their cash machine works correctly!
