The first thing that comes to mind when writing a review, is that Jeff is a very nice and patient teacher. While I am a beginner (who probably isnt very enjoyable to listen to), Jeff has ALWAYS come across to me as encouraging, accentuating the positive, and pleasant. I have never felt self-conscious with him, and truly, I have always enjoyed my lessons with him.
The next thing that comes to mind is that Jeff records our lessons and then sends them to me in mp3 format-so I am able to review the lesson and practice with it over the course of the next week. So I get reinforcement of lesson ideas, pick up on ideas I didnt notice during the lesson, and actually get as many lessons as I want over the course of the week because I can review or practice with any lesson ideas that I want when I want. You should know he customizes exercises to your range and sends you exercise mp3s that you can use for practice as well.
Next, Jeff makes very efficient use of our time. I am doing 30 minutes a week, and Jeff is building/pacing on concepts/skills each week nicely and I experience good continuity with lesson content each week. He keeps us moving each week where I dont notice any dead time or lagging during lessons and I am experiencing both good reinforcement of concepts while we are also moving forward and challenging my ability.
I am also enjoying the way he is able to compliment his one on one lessons with youtube videos that help to elaborate and build on the individual lesson content. So while I also get to review lesson mp3s, I can also listen to/practice with his library of videos that add to lesson content.
Next, Jeff has me singing! I can feel and hear his instruction having an impact on my voice to the point I am enjoying what Im doing and the sound of my voice. He also keeps in mind my initial goals and is directing his instruction towards helping me sing the kind of music that I hope to sing-which I am now doing. That is so fun and exciting.
Finally, I am learning that Jeff has a very good ear. He can hear very subtle qualities in my voice that has helped him guide and move me forward. After spending a couple months with him, Im pretty sure that I could not have learned without such a skilled teacher. I believe I would have learned and practiced the wrong way to sing, and probably would have done damage to my voice.
In summary, Jeff has been very enjoyable to work with and he has moved me forward steadily to the point I am now singing the types of songs I was hoping I could sing some day! The experience has been both very fun and rewarding!
