Forest Lodge Weddings

No bride wants to be complaining after their wedding, and we really did have an amazing wedding day. Forest Lodge is a beautiful location, but unfortunately we feel really let down by the staff team. The sinks in the toilets stopped working really early on in our day, and Forest Lodge didn't fix the issue or have any kind of backup or contingency, resulting in an event where food & drink are being served but where guests couldn't wash their hands. Having paid quite a lot for those toilets, we haven't had any refund or even an apology for the issue, and no reassurance that they will put something in place in case this happens again in the future. Other issues were quite minor, but our main reason for providing feedback was because issues & questions from the staff were taken to the groom on the day, and some of the communicaton with him was actually quite rude. We had introduced the forest lodge team to our bridesmaids, groomsmen and parents, who would all have been happy to help with anything, so really nothing should have been taken to the groom to worry about on his wedding day. We shared feedback in an email, and were really disappointed that the response contained no apology, no recognition of how they might have impacted on our day, and no suggestion that our concerns or feedback would even be considered for the future. Our experience of all other suppliers was them going above and beyond to make sure we both had the best possible day(including the Wonky Donkey bar who are brilliant!). Several asked afterwards for feedback, including any areas they could improve, as they really cared about us and their clients. Unfortunately that wasn't our experience of the Forest Lodge team, so while we did have a really wonderful day, we wouldn't recommend them as a venue to other couples. We genuinely hope that they will take our feedback on board to make sure any couples who do book with them in future feel a lot more valued and supported before, during and even after the most important day of their lives.

Really lovely location. Quite a drive down a gravel road and then up the side of a field but totally worth it. I was there for a wedding that was small, intimate and stunning. I'm not sure how it would cope on a wet and rainy day though. Luckily for us, it was a hot and sunny Saturday in August.
