Thetford Warren Lodge

There is something distinctly eerie about this place. A Thetford student named Herbert Thurston had weird dreams about the place, and his schoolteacher encouraged him to come and talk to the last lodge keeper who described what was said to be an encounter with a ghostly leper on the staircase, but I'd hazard a guess was actually a vivid dream interrupted by a steam train passing (this was 1904). Despite my cynicism I genuinely feel there is something uncanny about the place, an eerie atmosphere. I've been there at midnight and I've been there in broad daylight and the feeling was the same. There is a carpark about a quarter of a mile from the lodge but unfortunately last time we were there some dodgy looking people were looking in the cars. Our guy there at first thought they were doggers but noted they had their kids with them so probably sneak thieves. Once he appeared with two dogs they made off in their car sharpish. Probably worth being wary but I've never had any issues in Thetford.
