What a stunning place.....from the woodland walk to the glorious walled gardens, the museum is excellent as well, very informative and hands on too, the ruins are fascinating.....giving a sense of its history and peace. Beautiful. My only quibble is the cafe.....they rarely have food, today they had run out of food...it had only just gone past 12.00, tables were filthy and loaded with detritus and dirty plates/cups. This also happened the last time we were there, potential customers were cross. They should have anticipated lots of people wanting food...bank holiday and the blossom celebration.....an opportunity missed. Despite our hunger pains we had a marvellous time.....the bluebells, the trees bursting into leaf and the medieval music in the gardens were glorious. We will certainly visit again..maybe with our own sandwiches though!!

What a great day. Runcorn local and it was great to be back as an adult to see how much the place has changed. Lots to see and do. Great gardens! Lovely way to spend half a day. Welcoming staff and a nice cafe.
