Just returned from a 7 night's stay at the Cliff Hall Hotel, this is an excellent clean and friendly family run hotel in a good location with great views over the bay. The hosts - Deborah and Brendan are very friendly and went out of their ways to ensure that our stay was as comfortable as possible and checked that we were happy with our room and everything was good with breakfast. Breakfasts are buffet style with a really good choice of full English, cereals, fruit, yoghurts etc, and there is a well stocked bar with good service and a friendly welcome in the evenings where you can chat with the other guests. Brendan was also able to give some advice on a couple of local attractions which we hadn't visited before. Plenty of car parking on site, but there is also free on-street parking available outside the hotel should the car park be full (not a problem we encountered during our week). The hotel is located in a pleasant quiet area of Shanklin, on top of the cliffs, with easy access to the seafront and attractions via a footpath or the cliff lift which is only a couple of minutes walk away. We used the local buses each day to travel around the island, the local bus station is next to the Co-Op in Shanklin which is about a 5 - 10 minute walk from the hotel, with bus services available from there to the rest of the island. We purchased a 7 day rover ticket for the buses and this was a convenient and cost effective way of getting around. Shanklin old town is about a 10 minute walk away with all the usual shops, and plenty of restaurants. We'd definitely have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for anyone considering a visit to the Isle of Wight, and we look forward to visiting again and seeing Deborah and Brendan at the Cliff Hall Hotel in the future.
