I am so sad when I read the few reviews of the Bay Medical Centre in Sandown. I think I must attend a different place on the occasions I have visited! Even under the pressure that I know they must endure, I have always managed to get an appointment, found the receptionists to be very helpful, and the lady who deals with prescriptions, again very caring. I really don't know what the general public expect, but we should be very thankful that we live on the Isle of Wight. Den Clare .

I rang the pharmacy to request my repeat prescription as has happened in the last 3 times of requesting , only 2 items have gone to pharmacy for collection. My GP had increased my dosage of my medication by 75 mg, since this point I have received from pharmacy only 75 mg not the 300 mg I need and ha e had to put in a request and return to pharmacy days later.I rang surgery to try to get the correct amount each time , the admin lady who answered the phone reminded me that repeat prescriptions could not be done over the phone, fair enough but I hadn't asked for one , I just wanted the correct medication to be prescribed in the correct dosage. I was then informed that as dose was subject to change ,by the level the Dr wanted me to have .however i had had 225 mg for several years and was told I could now only have 75 mg without doctors permission. This is a drug with nasty withdrawal symptoms so a quarter of my regular amount isnt useful.I now have to wait for over a week to speak to gp by phone ,I know that the NHS is in crisis and would always say that the individual staff here are all very nice. I now need to ring back with my phone number which they say they dont have even though I has e given it to them and they have previously rung me on it ! Now I have been ringing for half an hour or more and cant get through each time I have to listen to the answering machine message again which is extremely long winded.,as an edit to this I would like to add that Maria was extremely helpful and polite when I finally got through and explained they had a new phone system so I understand that cant be help, if only my prescription could be sorted I would be very happy.

Good doctor. New medical center with accessible entrance. Friendly staff. Parking is awful. Two disabled bays only. Few spaces. Alternative is the bus which stops outside but still fair walk if you have mobility problems. Or pay to park in council leisure center car park.

First time calling to register. Took 5 minutes to get through the pre-call narrative, then put on hold for 5 minutes with awful hold music. Gave up in the end. If a doctor can only serve a max number of patients, shouldn't it have the right amount of staff to pick up the phone when it rings? Automated services are for those who are too big to care. This seems appropriate they would have it I suppose. Poor, poor, poor. Try another doctor.
