Great classic hotel, which used to benefit from a superb location for people travelling north or south to the M6. However, since the bypass which cuts straight down the motorway it has much less tourist traffic as the majority of travellers would go straight past. This is a shame as this hotel is substantial, well decorated and with lovely public facilities. The food is good local fare and decently priced. The staff are young and enthusiastic and do their best to offer excellent service. I believe this would be a great facility for major celebrations or events as the public areas, including large free car park, are more than adequate and very photogenic. I'm sure they would be able to cater all manner of events capably at a reasonable cost. I have to mention the rooms, which are comfortable and the bed is soft, but again very generous size, however ours was extremely cold and the radiator was not up to the job at all and even though I asked reception for a heater, none was provided and the room remained really cold. This must be difficult for a hotel of this size, but it should not be a problem for someone to prepare when guests are booked in. It was supposed to be an upgraded room but was very basic. We would stay again but unfortunately there is so much competition in this part of the holiday market that perhaps another hotel might be a better choice. I hope this doesn't put anyone off as it is still a lovely hotel but there are small niggles holding it back from being better.
