HSBC Bank

Went into the branch as I had acquired some older notes. Asked if I could deposit them to be told No as they went out of circulation years ago... was told I would have to either go to bank of England in London or fill in a form and post it. This was infact the totally wrong information as I googled on line. Popped into Lloyd's where they gladly deposited my old notes. I suggest staff need to be updated with what actually can be deposited!!

The staff are always friendly and helpful and although many dont like the modern banking machine process, they are always on hand to assist. Herman in particular is very knowledgeable, efficient and has a tremendous memory for his clients.

Walked in today not a member of staff cared to look up to greet us, there wasn't another customer in there!! When one of them did it felt like we were a nuisance. The answer to our question was "do it online", end of conversation. We went in to open an account on the recommendation of someone else.....ill be banking elsewhere. A positive was the branch was clean!!

I have banked with HSBC since the time it was Midland Bank and had both my business and personal account with them. On the whole the staff were friendly. However, when I tried to talk to them about how they were investing my money in fossil fuels and why that worried me they weren't interested. I tried to engage them to see if there were ways that my money could be ethically used etc but they were unable yo offer any sort of facility for not using my money for funding fossil fuels. This means that despite the generally good service, I have decided to move banks. I cannot leave my money invested in a bank that uses it to destroy our planet.
