It's very close to my heart and gives me goosebumps when visiting because not only am I really interested in history, especially my local history but my Grandma was actually one of the many people who lived down the Ramsgate tunnels in WW2. She was just a toddler around the age of 2 or 3 years old and my Great Grandmother ( my Grandma's mum) refused point blank to send my Grandma and her 2 older brothers away as evacuees, even when the house at the end of there road (Mays road off of Grange Rd Ramsgate) got bombed. That is when they moved down the tunnels on a long term basis. So my visit had special meaning for myself and I felt a sort of pride in my family being from 1 Town for such a long time. Also I must credit the guid on his knowledge of all things related to the Tunnels and making the tour enjoyable. And must also thank the lady's who run the tea room, there cakes are delicious.
