Michael from Standard Heritage provided us with fantastic advice about checking the property we are purchasing is free from damp, and ensuring it stays that way with simple and natural solutions. He also provided us with a fast and transparent quote should we feel we need an in-depth survey on the property once we have settled in. Thanks to the advice from Michael, and the additional information on the Standard Heritage website, we feel confident in our purchase and we know who to turn to if we encounter problems in the future. Would definitely recommend for his honesty and helpfulness, despite how busy he was!

We bought a Victorian Coach House in 2018 in Blackheath, South East London that Michael carried out a full building survey on as part of the purchase. Michael provided us with a really comprehensive report explaining everything clearly and in a really engaging style; he has a fantastic turn of phrase. His passion for and expertise in old buildings comes through in all of the dealings I have had with him. Following the survey, Michael followed up with a telephone call to talk me through his initial findings and then followed up with a first class report which has really helped us with our renovation project. Michael is a pleasure to deal with; a true professional with a real passion for what he does. Highly recommended.

We contracted Standard Heritage shortly after buying a Grade II Listed cottage right down on the harbour. Being a timber-framed building directly exposed to the elements, it needs a high level of knowledge and expertise to maintain - which is exactly what Standard Heritage provide. Michael is very reliable and has great passion for his work, a real depth of knowledge in his subject and huge respect for the buildings that he works to maintain. Through his very thorough surveys, Michael has provided invaluable insights and recommendations during our time in the cottage - we feel very lucky to have found somebody that we can trust to give our historic building the attention and care that it deserves. Michael was fantastic. My house has all sorts of damp problems and a damp report could have been scary and overwhelming! However, Michael gave really useful, impartial advice throughout and practical step-by-step recommendations whilst onsite and in his report. He took time to point out and explain issues as he went and listed a series of 'next steps' aligned to my budget. I've had numerous RICS-certified surveys in the past but none as helpful and only wish I'd found Michael sooner. It's amazing how many small changes based on his recommendations I've managed to put in place already - without spending lots of money. If you've got an old house and possible damp issues, I'd recommend getting Michael in before you talk to anyone else as he really understands old buildings and how to put them right. Don't get a free damp report from a company that are only interested in selling you something you don't need!
