I taught here for 9 years. I mainly taught Key Stage 1 but I also ran the Nursery with the assistance of 4 teacher assistants. I happily taught Key Stage 2 whenever a teacher was unable to work. These children were mainly ones that I had taught when they were in key Stage 1 so we knew each other well. The school has a healthy mix of all cultures and abilities. Visually impaired/blind children are included in all classes. They receive extra assistance from the special team of team who are trained to teach Braille, enlarge worksheets and text books, to make collages that children can feel the different textures and which can be a precursor to learning the finer feel of Braille. The children are also taken out of the school to learn to handle money and manage to find their way around safely, to go swimming and feel the freedom of movement in the water and horse riding to learn to trust a horse and to boost their confidence. The school's motto is "To strive to succeed ". That each child can improve their own performance and success. This is achieved by the teacher's encouraging, motivating, praising and rewarding each child's improvement. There is a SENCO for advice for children who need extra help or need to be stretched as high flyers. The outdoor area includes a playground with climbing apparatus, an enclosed pond and nature area. It has a playground each for the different key stages and a large field at the back.
