This place has tons of character and wonderful hotel guest-only spaces separate from the pub. You can tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into the design. The location is fantastic, moments from the action but a couple of streets back from the noise. The freshly-cooked breakfast pastries were amazing. One night we had a lot of noise from the room below ours who hosted a party from 1am to 3am and ignored our requests to turn off the music - but the staff member we texted on the out-of-hours number was able to sort them out immediately, so thank you to them. It is an old building and noise travels. The only thing I would change is the loo situation. Our room, Home Alone with Mrs Jones, was billed as having a 'private WC outside the room', but the loo was one of three in a partitioned bathroom, with names written on each one's door. Although it had no handwashing facilities, ours was the only one with a window and we were clearly not the only ones using it. It might be nice to put locks on these so everyone uses their own. If you feel strongly about it, my advice would be to book a room with its own loo.
